Mike McGuire Sworn in as State Senator

Sacramento, CA – California State Senator Mike McGuire took the oath of office today as family members, friends and supporters looked on.

“It’s my highest honor to serve in the State Senate and to work hard for the amazing people of Northern California,” said McGuire, who is the youngest serving state senator. “Together, I know we can achieve great things.”

McGuire was elected in a landslide with over 70 percent of the vote – the highest totals in the State Senate.  He ran on his record of accomplishments as a county supervisor, mayor, school board president and small business manager – and on his reputation of working relentlessly to get results for local communities. Mike never takes no for an answer when it comes to delivering for those that he works for.

“I only know one way to do my job,” said McGuire. “It’s the same way we ran our grassroots campaign: All In.”

True to form, McGuire started working the day after the election – weeks before being sworn in – meeting with dozens of community leaders and neighbors from throughout the seven counties that make up the vast second senate district. By the time he took office, McGuire had already organized his first two town hall meetings – in Marin County on January 22 and Humboldt County on February 7.

McGuire has assembled an experienced staff with a track record of superior service delivery. The Senator will have five district offices up and down the California coast - they are in the process of opening each of the offices - staffed with a dedicated team with deep roots in the district.

“I'm ready to get to work and focus on building a thriving economy, fighting to protect our coast and reopen our state parks and investing in stronger public schools,” said McGuire. "We are privileged to have this amazing opportunity and I promise - no one will work harder for the families and seniors who call the North Coast and North Bay home."
