Sacramento—Senate Majority Leader Mike McGuire recognized hometown hero Robert Sorber, who was recently named California School Bus Driver of the Year by the Department of Motor Vehicles and California Highway Patrol.
For over a quarter century, Robert has been the smiling face that greets the students of Miller Creek School District as a dedicated school bus driver. Mr. Sorber’s dedication, tenure and dependability have made him an inspiration and an example of what it means to serve with excellence.
“For 25 years, Robert has been the smiling face that greets the students of Miller Creek School District every morning, ensuring their safe passage to school. Rain or shine, he has taken charge of society's most precious cargo, treating every students with kindness, care, and an unyielding sense of responsibility. Rob’s dedication exemplifies the everyday heroism that makes our community’s flourish and we’re excited to honor him in the Senate,” said Senator McGuire.
Throughout his entire career, Sorber maintained a flawless driving safety record without a single accident or infraction. Recently, Sorber announced his retirement.
“It’s been an incredibly rewarding career over the past 25 years and I was honored to join Senator McGuire on the Senate Floor. I absolutely loved my career, and will miss the kids and my co-workers. I’m grateful to have had this opportunity to serve the community that I love and call home,” said Sorber.
