First hearing on Tuesday will assess funding for affordable housing

Sacramento, CA – Two State Senators who chair the key committees focused on housing and housing financing legislation in the Senate are partnering on two critically important legislative hearings this fall.

Senator Jim Beall, Chair of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee and Senator Mike McGuire, Chair of the Senate Governance and Finance Committee will hold the first of two hearings this Tuesday, in the Capitol.

Sacramento, CA – For decades, the State of California has required fish landing receipts to be completed by hand and submitted via the US Mail twice per month.

This process has proven extremely burdensome, inefficient, and antiquated.

Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike McGuire’s landmark legislation establishing statewide emergency alert protocols and regulation became law today when SB 833 was signed by Governor Jerry Brown.

Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike McGuire’s legislation that cuts through red tape and expedites Quagga Mussel inspection programs at Lake Mendocino and Lake Sonoma has been signed by the Governor.

This new law will provide public agencies, like Sonoma Water, the authority to obtain funding from the State of California to implement inspection programs for invasive mussel species at local lakes controlled by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Voters will now be able to fix mismatching signatures to ensure their ballots are counted

Sacramento, CA – One of the most important Governmental transparency bills of 2018 was just signed into law by Governor Brown.

Senator McGuire’s SB 929 – the Special Districts Transparency Act –  requires every independent special district in California to create and consistently maintain a website with specific and detailed information including meeting agendas, clear information on the district’s budget and expenditures, compensation reports, information on how to contact representatives of the district and more.
