President Obama’s State of the Union Programs “Good for the North Coast!”
Sacramento, CA – State Senator Mike McGuire released the following comments regarding President Obama’s State of the Union speech this evening.
Broadband Initiative.
“I was thrilled to see the President’s new focus to help millions of rural residents access high speed internet. For too long, folks living outside city centers have been challenged to access affordable and reliable high speed internet, including rural public schools, health clinics and small businesses.”
“The President’s BroadbandUSA initiative will help increase access to new internet technology and stronger competition so consumers have better choices at more competitive prices. The President clearly understands the needs of rural America, and we look forward to continuing the advancement of reliable high speed internet throughout our vast rural Senate District.”
Community College Tuition.
“The President’s proposal will help students achieve their educational dreams and provide desperately needed funding that will open up Community College doors for reentry students and recent graduates. Giving our students a fighting chance for a strong education, or to return to college, is a no-brainer”
“Higher education is the key to long-term economic stability for our families here on the north coast.”
