Senator McGuire to visit Eureka High School this Tuesday in Final Push for Third Annual Humboldt Holiday Food Drive
Eureka, CA — As Senator McGuire’s third annual Humboldt Holiday Food Drive hits the home stretch, six local high schools in Humboldt County are making the final push to bring in thousands of pounds of donated non-perishable food to feed Humboldt County residents in need.
This Tuesday, the day before the big Food Drive Drop Off and Donate event, Senator McGuire and Eureka High School students will rally and collect canned and non-perishable food for the friendly food drive competition.
“Thousands of amazing students have mobilized to donate thousands of pounds of food this holiday season. We couldn’t be more excited to be with Eureka High School student leaders on Tuesday on this final push of the food drive,” Senator Mike McGuire said. “One hundred percent of all donations will benefit Humboldt’s Food Bank, Food for People.”
Members of the press are invited to join Senator McGuire and Eureka High students, led by Tera Sanchez’s Leadership class, on Tuesday at the high school at 12:40 pm for a lunch-time rally to energize the school for the final day of the Food Drive competition. Press should check in at the Eureka High School front desk and will be directed to the rally.
All six high schools participating in the food drive will be dropping off all of their collected food on Wednesday during the Humboldt Holiday Food Drive. The public is also strongly encouraged to Drop Off and Donate donations on Wednesday at the Eureka Safeway. Details of the Food Drive are below.
What: Humboldt Holiday Food Drive. Bring non-perishable food items after work to the Eureka Safeway on December 12. Monetary donations are also accepted and 100 percent will be invested in Food for People, Humboldt’s Food Bank.
When: This Wednesday, December 12, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
