Sacramento, CA –  Senator Mike McGuire released the following statement after the announcement of state grant funding through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife that includes watershed restoration, protection and fire recovery projects in Mendocino and Sonoma counties:

“These grants are critically important as our region and watersheds recover from last year’s devastating wildland fires,” Senator Mike McGuire said. “The funds will ensure some of our most sensitive streams and watersheds, which were heavily impacted by the fires, can fully recover and thrive for future generations.”

Senator McGuire, Senator Dodd and Assemblymembers Wood, Levine and Aguiar-Curry have been working to secure funding to help restore critical watersheds that were impacted by last year’s devastating wildland fires.

Projects receiving grant money for fire recovery include:

• The Road to Recovery: Redwood Complex Fire Restoration – Implementation ($656,902 to Mendocino County)
• Post Fire Forest Management and Sediment Reduction for Coho Recovery ($1,423,107 to Sonoma Resource Conservation District)
• The Road to Recovery: Redwood Complex Fire Restoration – Planning ($88,382 to Mendocino County)
