Senator McGuire Announces $600,000 State Investment for Oak Manor Park Revitalization Project
UKIAH—Yesterday, alongside local leaders, families, neighbors, and pickleball enthusiasts—Senator Mike McGuire announced $600,000 in state funding to make critical improvements at Oak Manor Park in Ukiah.
This investment will replace the park’s aging playground with a new and more interactive Big Toy, replace the dreaded porta-potty and add a permanent ADA-accessible bathroom, improve existing tennis courts, and create new pickleball courts which are in high demand throughout Mendocino County. The project will also add a new community garden to help expand access to fresh, locally grown food for families in the surrounding neighborhood.
Used on a daily basis by over 100 local residents for barbecues, birthdays, celebrations, daily exercise, and more, Oak Manor Park is a well-loved neighborhood gathering place. This funding will help ensure the park continues to meet the needs of the Ukiah community for decades to come.
“Positive changes and more family fun is coming to Oak Manor Park,” said Senator McGuire. “The City of Ukiah anticipates breaking ground on the revitalization project in Spring or Summer of 2027, and this state investment will bring new life to the playground, add pickleball courts which are in high demand, and create a brand-new community garden where folks can grow fresh fruit and veggies. This transformation is long overdue and we’re grateful to have partnered with the City Council to move the project forward.”
